Ride a 178-metre-high work of art: The Olympic Park ARCELORMITTAL Orbit tower

Dynamic, other-worldy and very, very tall… this interactive sculpture, created by visionary artist Sir Anish Kapoor and structural designer Cecil Balmond, is the tallest work of art in the UK and is a fascinating attraction.

560 metres of red steel has been crafted to create a man-made organism that reaches high into the sky. Created to celebrate the 2012 London Olympics, the Olympic Park ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower (located in Stratford, East London) is one of the most extraordinary icons of British ingenuity.

Features of the Olympic Park ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower include panoramic views from the top, a hair-raising super-slide, and an opportunity to abseil down the UK’s tallest work of art.

View from the top

Take an elevator up into the sky and scan the horizon, taking in the Olympic Stadium, the soaring towers of Canary Wharf and London’s iconic cityscape beyond.

Super Slide

Slides are always fun when you’re a kid; the speed, the drop, the adrenaline rush, the ‘Again! Again! Again!’ feeling. One disadvantage of becoming a ‘boring grown-up’ is that those rushes and sensations that thrilled us so as kids don’t seem quite so appealing any more.

Or so you might think. If you’re of the opinion that slides can’t be thrilling for adults too, we’re about to prove you wrong.

The Olympic Park ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower is home to the longest and tallest slide in the entire world.

Descend from great heights (178 metres to be precise) and experience exhilarating speeds as you twist and turn around the core structure of the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower via a translucent tunnel, meaning that can still see the city skyline as you whizz back down to planet Earth.

Try out this unique ride and get that ‘Again! Again! Again!’ feeling once more.

The Olympic Park ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower slide attraction was named as Time Out’s NUMBER 1 thing to do in London in 2016.
